About this artwork
The dervish raises his right hand toward the heavens, certain that God will grant him guidance to straighten his path, and trusting that He will open the doors of his heart and mind so he may ascend as a human being. With his left hand facing the earth, he scatters the seeds of his consciousness through his turning, for all the world to receive. Messages poured forth from love, truth, and beauty.
About the Artist
Badie Jahjah (b. 1973, Jableh, Syria) is a visual artist and graphic designer whose practice bridges spiritual philosophy and visual communication. He holds a BA in Fine Arts, Visual Communication and Advertising from Damascus University
and brings more than two decades of experience in branding and identity design, developing over 200 logos across public and private sectors
Deeply influenced by the mystical teachings of Shams al-Tabrizi and Jalal al-Din Rumi, Jahjah’s artistic research centers on dervish iconography, sacred letters, and symbolic systems as vehicles of spiritual inquiry. War marked a turning point in his practice, awakening what he describes as “the dervish within”
