About this work

In Oriental Scene II, Nizar Sabour turns the city into something closer to a dream than a place. Against a deep, nocturnal blue, architectural forms rise like fragments of memory—towers, thresholds and luminous structures suspended between recognition and abstraction. Touches of ochre, red, turquoise and yellow punctuate the darkness, appearing almost like distant lights or signs carried through the night. Sabour allows these forms to hover rather than settle, giving the composition the feeling of a city recalled from afar: familiar in atmosphere, yet impossible to locate precisely. Here, the “Oriental scene” is not presented as a literal view, but as an emotional landscape. Architecture becomes memory, colour becomes light, and the night becomes a space in which history, imagination and place quietly overlap. The result is both intimate and mysterious—a city that seems to exist somewhere between the world we inhabit and the one we carry within us.
