About this artwork
إن تجودي فصليني أسوةً بالعاشقين، أو تظني فاندبيني في ظلال الياسمين.”
In this series, love stands in quiet shapes — sometimes asking to be chosen, sometimes ready to be let go. Each figure holds a shade of longing, a whisper between those who dare to love and those who fear the cost of it. And through every stroke, a jasmine shadow returns… soft, fragrant, and honest, the kind of light lovers stand beneath when words fall short.
Here, grace is offered, and sorrow is allowed. Separation becomes a gentle act, and devotion a quiet resilience. In these nine panels, the heart moves from brightness to darkness, carrying the tenderness of a song passed down through generations — a song where love is either embraced or mourned beneath the branches of jasmine.
About the Artist
Nawar Shartouh is a Syrian painter and printmaker based in Dubai. He graduated from the University of Damascus, where his foundation in printmaking shaped his precise, layered, and intentional approach to image-making.
Since establishing his studio in Dubai in 2021, his work has evolved within a contemporary curatorial context while retaining a quiet dialogue with Damascus, often guided by motifs such as jasmine and collective interior states expressed with tonal restraint.
