A solitary figure sits elevated above the gathering, connected to those below by fine, taut lines that can be read as threads of influence, dependency, communication, or control, leaving their meaning compellingly unresolved. Moualla’s vigorous black gestures contrast with the vulnerability of the aged, irregular paper, while the compressed architecture and densely gathered bodies create a palpable sense of tension and anticipation. Intimate in scale yet expansive in implication, the work invites repeated looking, revealing a complex meditation on power, belonging, hierarchy, and the invisible forces that bind people together.
