About this artwork
This work intensifies the idea of transition, presenting the figure as both holder and held, suspended between control and surrender. The seated body appears composed, yet the inverted figure below introduces a quiet instability—suggesting a divided or shifting identity.
Transparency once again becomes a structural element, veiling and revealing fragmented realities within the same space.
The palette balances soft neutrals with sharper blues and ochres, while the presence of the key introduces a symbolic axis—hinting at access, passage, or the possibility of release.
Rather than a simple crossing, the work reflects an inner negotiation—where the self is both the threshold and what seeks to pass through it.
About the Artist
Salam Ahmad, trained in Fine Arts in Syria, works through painting as an intimate, emotional language. Her compositions emerge from quiet inner spaces, where feelings take form before they are spoken. The body dissolves into sensation, and color, especially grey, becomes a field of reflection, suspended between presence and absence, fullness and emptiness.
