In the Shadows Of Jasmine | ظلال الياسمين
7 December – 31 December 2025
In The Shadows of Jasmine presents the work of Nawar Shartouh a practice where printmaking precision and painterly emotion coexist with deliberate restraint.
The series traces Syria through shadow, texture, and scent rather than literal depiction. Jasmine appears as a recurring reference point calm, persistent, quietly climbing the edges of the works, carrying memory without spectacle.
Guided by layered graphic foundations from the University of Damascus, Nawar builds surfaces that feel simple at first glance, but hold emotional weight in the second look. His figures remain intentionally undefined, resisting identity and naming to reflect collective inner states rather than personal narratives.
With a refined monochrome palette, briefly interrupted only when color becomes conceptually necessary, the work sustains a contemporary timelessness that resonates regionally across collectors and curatorial circles in the United Arab Emirates.
This exhibition offers observation, pause, and dialogue, articulated through quiet discipline, layered intent, and the unshakable persistence of jasmine in the shadows.
