Majdi Al Kuzbari

A Syrian interior architect, educator, and co-founder of MDN Design Studio, with over five decades of experience in interior design, architecture, and cultural preservation. Drawing on Syrian mosaic, Arabic calligraphy, geometry, and traditional craftsmanship, he translates heritage into contemporary spaces, jewelry, and objects where cultural memory continues to live. His projects have been realized across Syria, Jordan, the Gulf region, and beyond, and his work has reached international audiences through exhibitions and the Syrian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. In 2014, he co-founded MDN Design Studio with Diana Al Mardini as a platform to reimagine heritage through handcrafted jewelry and contemporary design. Through teaching interior design, lighting, landscape, and urban design in Syria, he has shared his knowledge with new generations of designers. Through his practice, Al Kuzbari brings Syria’s intangible heritage into everyday life, creating pieces and spaces that carry story, identity, and the enduring spirit of place.
