About this work
In Ahmad Moualla’s 2026 body of work, the figure no longer simply inhabits the paper; it contends with its limits. Bodies gather in a compressed, almost ritual choreography, drawn with the urgency and instability characteristic of Moualla’s line.
Here, the surface is subjected to the same tension as the figures it carries. Cut and burned, the paper opens into voids that interrupt the image and become active elements within it. Light enters where material disappears; shadows redraw the composition against its surroundings.
Floating within the frame, the work exists somewhere between drawing, object and apparition
